NHS - National Honor Society

National Honor Society

The Badger Chapter of the National Honor Society includes juniors and seniors who excel in the areas of leadership,   scholarship, character, and service. The application process begins the day after Thanksgiving and ends the Friday after Semester 1 final exams. In order to qualify for membership, a student must be a sophomore or junior with a minimum cumulative 3.6 GPA. Interested students will complete an application that involves both objective demographic information and subjective replies to short answer questions on the applicant's scholarship, service, leadership, and character;  it also includes three letters of recommendation from appropriate parties. Applications will be read during the first four weeks of Quarter 3 by the Faculty Council.  Applicants will be advised over Spring Break if they have been accepted into the organization. A formal induction ceremony is held in May or June, based on calendar availability.

It should be noted that this group has up to twice monthly required meetings, participates in numerous school events, requires individual service projects, and works extensively as a larger body on one or more community service projects each year. It should be seen as a year-long activity of considerable commitment.
