NHS - National Honor Society

The Badger Chapter of the National Honor Society honors juniors and seniors who excel in the areas of leadership, scholarship, character, and service. Application process begins at the start of Quarter 3 and selection occurs at the beginning of Quarter 4. In order to qualify for membership, a student must be a sophomore or junior, complete an application with two letters of recommendation, and have a minimum cumulative 3.6 GPA. Upon meeting these initial requirements, applicants will be asked to complete 10 hours of community service in the months of February and/or March. Finally, students are rated by faculty, staff, and administrators in terms of their character, and they must receive an average score of 4 (out of 5) in the areas of character and leadership. Students who have been involved with a major disciplinary infraction (cheating, suspension, or other major infractions of school and/or community rules including the Co-curricular Code of Conduct) will not be eligible. Members of NHS are involved in service and charitable activities year-round with strict rules regarding attendance and participation. They should expect to perform around five hours of service per month.
