Nancy (Dare) Kunkler '87Nancy Dare Kunkler, Class of 1987, was a two-sport standout in cross country and track and field, earning eight varsity letters during her Badger High School career. In cross country, Nancy won the Southern Lakes Conference Championship during her sophomore, junior, and senior year. She qualified for the state meet three years in a row. In track and field, Nancy qualified for the state meet her freshmen year in the 3200 meter run, her sophomore year in the 1600 meter run, and her junior year in the 1600 meter relay. During her senior year, she was a two-time conference champion in both the 1600 meter run and 1600 meter relay. Upon graduation, Nancy competed in cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field at the University of Oshkosh. In cross country, she qualified for the NCAA National Championships three of her four years and was a two-time All-American, finishing 14th and 18th at the Championships her junior and senior year. One of Nancy’s greatest accomplishments was winning the 1990 NCAA Division III National Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the 1500 meter run. She is the first person to ever win a national championship in an individual running event at the University of Oshkosh. Nancy earned 12 varsity letters at UW-Oshkosh and was a member of 12 WWIAC Conference Champion teams – 4 in cross country, 4 in indoor track and field, and 4 in outdoor track and field.

Inducted into the Badger Athletic Wall of Fame in 2004.
