Badger High School students in Mr. Geissler's Metals Machining, Production and Careers in Metal Working and Advanced Metals classes participated in Manufacturing Month with a daylong field trip to two area businesses and Gateway Technical College. The first stop was at Scot Forge in Clinton, WI where students learned about the forging and machining processes. At Gateway Technical College students had lunch and toured the Reader Precision Machining and Manufacturing Center. Students learned about the equipment and opportunities available through Gateway’s programs. The final stop was at Wisconsin Precision Casting in Lake Geneva where the casting process was seen first, hand.

Today at Badger we had a hold drill. This drill is used when there is a situation that requires us to keep students in classrooms and clear the halls. During a hold drill students and teachers still conduct class accordingly. The purpose of the hold today was to deal with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that caught fire causing smoke in a classroom. The hold was lifted and students and staff have returned to normal classroom activities.

Concern over a dangerous intersection near Lake Geneva Middle School and Badger High School sparked Badger FCCLA members to study traffic patterns in order to advocate for a traffic light the intersection of WI 120/Edwards Blvd. and Bloomfield Road. In conjunction with the Lake Geneva Police Department, a Road Safety Assessment (RSA) was conducted by FCCLA on September 27th at 7:00 a.m. and 2:50 p.m., each for approximately 35 minutes, the times of day that the intersection is greatly impacted by students and staff going to and from school through that intersection.

Impressive 21st century learning opportunities were unveiled at Badger High School at the official ribbon cutting event for the new PHab Lab. The event was attended by Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, Wisconsin State Senator Stephen Nass, Mayor Tom Hartz, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction representatives and other state and local level dignitaries, but the stars of the day were the Badger students who gave impressive demonstrations of the new technology that is a growing facet of Badger culture.

A letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to this scholastically talented senior.

63 students took part in an American Red Cross Blood Drive today at Badger High School organized by Student Council. 51 units were donated which is enough blood to save 153 lives. Another blood drive is scheduled at Badger on Monday, April 29th, 2019.

Econ Team Wins State Competition

Congratulations to the Badger Economics Team for winning first place in the Wisconsin Economics Challenge. Team members Connor Duggan, Carson Gundlach, Bethany Foulkes, Carson Derda, and Ryan Johnson took first place in the Milwaukee Region competition that also included Nicolet High School, Germantown High School, and Brookfield Academy. The team scored higher than any team in the two other state competitions that took place, earning them the chance to compete in the National Economics Challenge.

Forty one students from Badger High School competed at the DECA Wisconsin Career Development Conference from March 5-7th. DECA members traveled to Grand Geneva Resort to compete in 28 occupational series events as well as prepared written project presentations. Over 1400 students from Wisconsin participated in this conference. Twenty three of our members were recognized on stage by earning medals in either their 100 question cluster test, one of the two role-play events in their event category, or a top ten finalist medal. Our chapter members captured 44 individual medals. Sixteen members earned a champion medal for placing first through tenth place in their event. Teams of students worked with Clear Water Outdoor to create visual merchandising display windows and in-store displays which will be up from March 1st - March 13th. DECA Recognizes Outstanding School-based Enterprises

The School-Based Enterprise at Badger High School was among 391 school-based enterprises in the United States achieving Gold Level Re-certification this year and will be recognized at DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The students who worked on the certification were seniors Charley Giese and Jackie Carper with the assistance of their advisor, Phil Huff. The school-based enterprise at Badger has operated for 19 years and is to be commended for this achievement. This is the 8th consecutive year that Bucky’s Den has earned this recognition.

Students in the senior level Advanced Marketing (AM) course at Badger High School have been preparing to take the Customer Service and Sales certification for the past two weeks in class. Though the test given in Advanced Marketing, through courses over the past two years, students have been preparing by taking the pre-requisites, Marketing I & II classes. This course sequence allowed them to prepare for the content standards of learning about products/services, assessing and meeting customer needs, and educating customers.

The Badger High School Academic Team had an outstanding performance in the Southern Lakes Conference Academic Bowl on February 12, 2018, at Delevan-Darien High School. The Badger team took 2nd place with an overall score of 802, just seven points behind the winning team, Waterford. (1st place - Waterford 809, 3rd place Elkhorn 756) There are eight teams in the conference.

DECA members traveled to Racine Case High School to compete in 28 occupational series events. Over 600 students from southeast Wisconsin participated in this conference.
