2020 Graduation

Dear Parents/Guardians and Graduating Seniors:

Graduation is quickly approaching!  The event was postponed from the original date of June 7th because student feedback was overwhelming, they wanted to be in person and with their classmates to celebrate.  What times we have lived through - school closure, Senior Awards online, and the cancellation of so many traditional methods to say goodbye to this chapter in life.  We are all excited to get together August 2 and celebrate the accomplishments of this Senior Class of 2020.

This letter contains information on the procedures of Graduation Day.  On Sunday, August 2, 2020, the day of graduation, we ask that seniors arrive by 12:45 pm.   The graduation ceremony will begin at 1:30 pm.  Live video streaming of the event will be available at:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWlv2sjnBdbJSph8fzcWkDQ.  If there is a problem with the link, please visit the home page at bhs.badger.k12.wi.us.

In a normal year, seniors participate in a graduation practice before the event.  This will not be the case this year.  Seniors, please enter the PE Center and find your name on the floor. We ask that you practice social distancing.  Wearing of a mask inside the building is recommended.  You will be given instructions and then asked to take the paper with your name on it as you move to exit the PE Center.  You will use this paper to indicate your name to those announcing graduates as you cross the stage to receive your diploma cover.

Students will receive their diploma cover in alphabetical order so parents/guardians may plan accordingly for photographs.  We ask that you do not stand for an extended period of time waiting to take a picture because it can block the view of other guests.  Professional photos will be taken by Empire Photography.  Picture order forms will be emailed/mailed to your house from Empire.

Seniors please wear appropriate semi-formal attire.  Lower heeled shoes are recommended since we will be on the football field and it’s difficult to walk in the grass in high heels. Please do not bring extra things with you into the PE Center.  You will not be able to leave belongings behind.  Caps are not to be decorated in any way except for the tassel.

The Class of 2020 will have an outdoor graduation ceremony. Seniors were given four tickets at the Senior Pick-up Day.  The tickets allow four guests per student admission to the football stadium for the ceremony.  This measure is in place for social distancing purposes.  We ask that guests are respectful of social distancing guidelines while in the stands.  Because weather is unpredictable, we must have a plan in case of rain or poor weather conditions.  Our procedure is as follows:

The decision to postpone the graduation ceremony will be made by 8:00 am on graduation day, August 2.  If postponement is made, we will contact students/families in several ways: via our website, www.badger.k12.wi.us and our school messenger calling system, text alert, and email. The rain date is August 3 at 7pm.

The gates to our football field will open at 12:30pm to admit guests.  Anyone needing special accommodations, those in wheelchairs or the elderly, please call to make arrangements ahead of time at 262-348-2000 ext. 2001.

Because the ceremony is outdoors it may be warm in the bleachers.  We encourage you to bring water to the ceremony and to wear sunscreen.  Even on a breezy or overcast day, people can dehydrate quickly and burn easily.

Parking is available on Badger’s campus as well as in the Lake Geneva Middle School lots on Wells Street and Bloomfield Road.  Please remember to adhere to all parking regulations when parking.

Please remember that participation in the graduation ceremony is a privilege that is earned.  Students permitted to participate must meet all academic requirements and must pay all outstanding fees prior to the ceremony.  Fees can be remitted to Kristyn Skipper in the main office.  It is your student’s responsibility to verify if they have any outstanding fees.

Finally Seniors, senior pranks may mean you cannot participate in the graduation ceremony.  This class has a good heart so keep it classy Badger and be able to celebrate with your class on August 2.

Hope you are enjoying your summer.  Please call us with any questions or concerns at 262-348-2000.

Sincerely,
Badger Administration
