Good day -
Hope this email finds you and your family well.
Please know that you are missed.
Virtual Learning and Virtual Meets are not what we all signed up for. I think back to why I decided to become a teacher. When I was in my first year of college, I came home for break and spent one day observing a former teacher of mine in the classroom. I thought it was pretty cool that she got to spend her day facilitating student discussion and learning. So, I was hooked. I was not hooked on sitting at my desk and communicating virtually. It is just not me, but for this time I can adapt and tolerate/enjoy the experience knowing that at some point we will return to face-to-face learning.
The week ahead is a short one, but will be an active and engaging one. Please be sure you are engaged in learning and if there are any issues, you reach out to your teachers, guidance counselors, or administrators.
Take care,
JStraus
Here is some general information for the week:
Virtual College Visits: Colleges across the state and country have created virtual tours of their campus. Please check out our Counseling page for information or go to a specific college website for more information. Many colleges have extended admissions and financial aid deadlines.
Advanced Placement testing: as you know, ACT test schedule and type of test has been modified. Please talk to your AP teacher about specifics. I’ve included a link to free test-pre material and live streaming events for each AP class.
Ap-course-schedule
Census: Please remind your family to get online and complete the nation-wide census for 2020. As you know, the census is made every 10 years and this count is used to determine everything from the number of members in the House of Representatives to fire/police/and education funding.
If you need to get into the building to retrieve necessary items, please contact me.
