5.13.20 Principal Update

Good day Badger -

We have a little over four weeks of school left in the 2019-20 school year.  Time has moved pretty fast even with the abrupt halt to school as we’ve always known it.  I thank all of you who are engaged in learning and showing up virtually for your classes and assignments.  This is truly a training ground for life.  Once out of school, you decide whether or not to show up to life.  Determine how you want to walk in this world.  So, through the COVID-19 learning experience that we can all tell future generations all about, I do hope that the skills of organization, determination, and resiliency have grown for all of us.

Please check out this PSA from the Badger Staff.  Know that we MISS YOU!  http://bhs.badger.k12.wi.us/our_school/news/badger_news___announcements/badger_positive_message

Badger is working to design a process for all students to get into the building and retrieve items left in the lockers.  Please help us out by completing the survey I sent on Tuesday.  9-11th grade students may choose to keep their Chromebooks over the summer, but we are designing a process for you to drop off your textbooks, library books, and other miscellaneous items.

On Wednesday, May 20th look for the Senior Awards and Scholarship Celebration being broadcast on all our social media platforms.  This is usually an evening filled with hugs and talk of making dreams a reality - through our virtual experience we wish to honor the accomplishments of this hardworking and talented class.  Seniors, I do hope you tune in with your Safer At Home family and alert your extended family as well.  Those receiving an award/scholarship should have received a mailing of congratulations.

The week of June 1, we will have a drive-through for our Seniors to pick up Cap and Gown, awards and scholarships, and projects housed in teacher’s rooms.  At this time we will also ask Seniors to turn in their Chromebooks, library and class texts, and other miscellaneous items.  Look for an update as to times and location.

Big news for our Class of 2020 - The Graduation Ceremony has been postponed until Sunday August 2, 2020.  After seeking input from the Student Council and getting emails from Seniors, the administration proposed this change and it was approved by the Badger School Board.  Overwhelming student response was that if we can have an in person graduation ceremony, then let’s do just that!  Our rationale is that by August 2nd, we hope that the restrictions on size of gatherings in the state of Wisconsin will have changed to accommodate a large group like our Graduates and their families.  We will keep you posted on the time  and structure of this event.

Our staff was out having a blast putting Senior Signs in yards two weeks ago.  We are looking at other ways to honor this amazing class of students and will keep you posted as ideas turn to action.

Other Important Information:

Please complete the CTEERS Survey.  You have the email with links to the site.  The main question it will ask is:  what do you plan to do after high school?  This is a State mandated report and we appreciate your participation.

AP TESTING started this week.  Here are some websites to help in preparation:
