5.1.20 Update

Good day -

Hope this weekly update finds you well.  We wanted to address the questions around the grading policy in the time of COVID-19.  Simply put, Badger Administration and Staff wanted to ensure that with all the uncertainty our families and students are living with at this time, we do no harm in our grading process.  To that end, Quarter 4 of the 2019-20 school year can only grow the Semester 2 grade for our students.

Due to COVID-19 affecting so many individuals in a variety of ways, administration has asked that staff provide students with feedback regarding their assignments, assessments, and overall progress in their classes, while maintaining their grade books in a manner that does not negatively affect students.

Our goal is to keep learning at the forefront of our students, yet take into consideration the variety of factors that may play into their overall progress as the Stay-at-Home Order remains in effect.  The reason that you may have seen a change in your grade is due to the fact that administration and staff are wanting to keep the health (both mental and physical) of our students as the main priority during this difficult time, yet continue to provide them with a sound education that does no harm or compound any situation that may be occurring outside of their control.

Students will see that their quarter 3 grade will remain and the semester grade will reflect the progress of work that has been completed during quarter 4 averaged with that quarter 3 grade.  Students should view their classes as a means to improve their knowledge in each class and their overall semester grades.

One of the  messages I heard growing up from my Grandparents was ‘learning matters and knowledge is power’.  The knowledge and skills we learn along with lessons learned from our family, heroes we admire, and friends combines to help form who we are and how we walk in this world.  What you are learning now matters.  Engage in the learning process and grow.  We want you to be prepared for your future.  There will be a time when we are all back together.  Until that time, stay well, stay engaged, and stay learning.

Better Never Stops Badger.
