
Destination Imagination (DI) Team Global Finals, the culminating event of the DI experience, took place in Kansas City, MO, May 22-25, 2019. To qualify, teams advanced through local and state competitions held earlier this year. The Badger team placed 2nd out of 49 teams from the United States, China, Turkey, Korea, British Columbia, Australia and Poland. In addition, they won a Renaissance Award for their advanced technical skills, creativity and stagecraft in the creation of a haunted library. The library consisted of a self-playing organ and a haunted bookcase complete with a hidden door. The mission of DI is to engage participants in project-based challenges that are designed to build confidence and develop extraordinary creativity, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills. DI principles include fun learning, creative problem solving, kid-powered, team driven friendly competition and global diversity.
