Congratulations to the Badger Economics Team for winning first place in the Wisconsin Economics Challenge. Team members Connor Duggan, Carson Gundlach, Bethany Foulkes, Carson Derda, and Ryan Johnson took first place in the Milwaukee Region competition that also included Nicolet High School, Germantown High School, and Brookfield Academy. The team scored higher than any team in the two other state competitions that took place, earning them the chance to compete in the National Economics Challenge.
The competition consisted of three written tests - microeconomics, macroeconomics and international economics; an open qualifying quiz bowl; and the Super Quiz Bowl. Three Badger team members had the highest microeconomics scores in the competition, which helped secure the victory.
Only 35 teams remain in the nation vying to be one of just eight teams that will compete at Nationals. The National Economics Challenge will take place in New York City.
