Forensics Team Earns Medals at State Meet

On Friday, April 12, the Badger High School Forensics team traveled to the UW Madison campus to compete in the Wisconsin High School Forensics Association State Forensics Festival. Overall, the team earned six Gold medals, three Silver medals, and two Bronze medals.

In addition, Seniors Jessie Smith and Bella Peetz received 4 year medallions. This highly prestigious award is only granted to individuals receiving a Gold medal all four years of high school competition. Gold medals are only awarded for a perfect score of 25.

The following students earned awards at the event:

  • Bella Peetz - Gold medal in Farrago
  • Junior Team Captain Mel Soto - Gold medal in Oratory
  • Kyler Rohde - Gold medal in Public Address
  • Senior Team Captain Jessie Smith - Gold medal in Solo Serious
  • Sophia Georges - Gold medal in Special Occasion
  • Muneeza Munawar - Gold medal in Storytelling

 

  • Anna Dickfoss - Silver medal in Moments in History
  • Lauren Helsing - Silver medal in Prose
  • Kaleigh Leach - Silver medal in Radio News Reporting

     

  • Nathan Dyer - Bronze medal in Impromptu 
  • Sam Hill - Bronze medal in Solo Serious

Coaches Mark Zastrow and April Machan are extremely proud of the team and all that they have accomplished this season. “Most people fear public speaking, these hardy individuals do it for fun!” said Zastrow.
