It’s Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch Time at Badger High School

Badger High School is joining schools, early care sites, hospitals, universities, state agencies, and non-profit organizations across the Great Lakes Region to celebrate National Farm to School Month by crunching into local apples for the Fifth Annual Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch at lunch time!

Over 1.4 million students, children, food service staff, health care workers, teachers
and others are registered for the annual event, with Crunches occurring at over 4,236 locations across Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.

This is the second year that the Lake Geneva Badger Family, Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) has provided apples for the student body. The Gala and Empire apples were purchased from Hafs Road Orchard. The FCCLA members cleaned and cut about 500 apples so students could crunch on apples with caramel or just grab a whole apple. The students got the apples during their lunch on Thursday, October 11, 2018.

This collective Apple Crunch encourages and celebrates the use of healthy, Wisconsin-grown foods in cafeterias across the state. We Crunch together to support our local farmers, to grow healthy eaters and to build strong community across our state and region.
