Badger High School Juniors Participate In A Unique, Interactive Financial Program By Community State BankDecember 15, 2017 - Badger High School’s entire Junior class went through a financial education program called, "MyLIFE" on Thursday, December 14, 2017.

The Juniors each chose a career path that determined their starting salary. From there, each student was randomly assigned a "life" – single, married or divorced, kids or not, a credit score, student debt – all potentially real-life situations. Once their "life" was assigned, they were directed to the gym, where many tables and volunteers were there to guide them through essential life decisions about how to pay for housing, insurance, utilities, food and childcare.

Volunteers and local businesses from the community guided students through a sample month of their adult life, with the most significant financial choices being guided by experts in their respective fields. For example, a car salesperson "sold" the student a vehicle; based on the size of their family and the size of their budget; a child care provider informed students about the cost of day care; an insurance salesperson helped the students understand insurance, how it works, and how much it costs.

Thank you to the 50 volunteers who came in from the community to help our students learn about budgeting and the expenses of being an adult. The success of this event is the strength of the partnership between our community and the school.
