On Friday, February 7th, during 1/2 time of the Varsity Girl’s Basketball game (approximately 6:30 p.m.) Todd Clark, WIAA Executive Staff Member, and Tyler Kuehni from Rural Mutual Insurance in Mukwonago, will present the 2019 State Tournament Sportsmanship Award to our Badger High School Girl’s State Tennis team for their appearance at the WIAA Team State Tennis Tournament! This is the first time in school history that Badger High School has received this award. They defeated Brookfield East, 4-3, in the Division 1 quarterfinal before falling to Homestead by the same score in the semifinals.
The WIAA/Rural Insurance Sportsmanship Award is presented to one school program and community–or communities in the case of cooperative programs–in each of the State team tournaments that demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship. Award winners are determined by the conduct and sportsmanship displayed by athletes, coaches, cheer and support groups, mascots, bands and spectators. Additional consideration is given for the effort of school administrators and chaperones to ensure support for their teams are positive and that the highest ideals of sportsmanship are demonstrated.
