AP Art History

The AP Art History is designed to be the equivalent of a two-semester college course. The course content is represented within a specific image set of 250 works of art categorized by geographical and chronological designations, beginning with works from global prehistory and ending with global contemporary works. There are 12 learning objectives that represent art historical skills that university faculty expect students to possess at the end of this course. There are 10 content areas that outline cultural ideas and practices, sources of contextual information, and general characteristics of art and architecture with respect to form and content. In addition to art, this course includes the study of artifacts, architecture, anthropology, religion, geography, and history. Students will need to combine art historical skills, contextual understanding, and in-depth knowledge of specific works of art to demonstrate achievement on the exam.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE?
Juniors or Seniors who are highly motivated to read, research, analyze, and discuss topics of art history within a global perspective.

WHAT KNOWLEDGE WILL BE GAINED?
